Did you know that all it takes is 20 calls from constituents for a Congressional office to pay attention to an issue? Calling Congress in support of the Family Act and Adoption Tax Credit is a very important part of the legislative process. Members of Congress need to hear from people that support these bills, and phone calls are very impactful.

Starting today through Thursday, November 29th we need you to call both your Senators and your Representative. We have a real chance to make the Family Act a reality and to save the Adoption Tax Credit this year. Join thousands of advocates who have already taken action on these bills.

We need your voice and your actions more than ever. Follow our easy instructions, and take the time to call your members of Congress. Your call could be just what your Member needs to hear to take positive action on these two issues. Call today!

Thank you to Shady Grove Fertility Centers for hosting the Family Act Town Hall in Maryland.  Dr Levy introduced Barbara Collura, RESOLVE’s President and CEO, who gave an overview of the Family Act and how you can get involved. She encouraged the attendees to make their voice heard and to call Congress and ask for support of the Family Act and to save the Adoption Tax Credit. After the presentation, there was a great question and answer discussion with participants.

Now that  the 2012 election cycle has come to end, RESOLVE, our advocates and the entire community needs to focus on two key areas:

  1. The Lame Duck session in Congress which begins November 13 and may go all the way until December 31. We must get the Family Act passed and we must save the Adoption Tax Credit.
  2. State capitals across the country where we are bracing for legislation that will impede on the rights of infertility patients to build their family how they want. We need to mobilize volunteers in many states to help us in our efforts. The state legislatures reconvene in January and we have a small window of time to get mobilized.  Do you live in a state where a Personhood bill has been introduced in the past? Contact us and get involved.

Whether you are a Family Building professional, a patient, someone who has resolved their infertility, or just someone who cares about the infertility community, make sure you are following this blog, connected with us on Facebook and Twitter and signed up to receive instant updates via email.
