Fighting for Parenthood after Cancer

Posted by: Betsy Campbell at April 17, 2017

Imagine sitting in the doctor’s office and being told that you have cancer. Perhaps those of us with infertility can imagine that more readily because the stress associated with the diagnosis of infertility has been compared to that of cancer. And sadly, the similarities don’t end there. Read more.

Access to Care

What does “Access to Care” mean? At RESOLVE, we take Access to Care seriously. It’s not just a phrase or buzz words to us. It’s what guides our work each and every day. It’s a key strategic goal as set by our Board of Directors. It’s the lens under which we decide if RESOLVE is leading on an issue or not. And, it’s the most important thing our constituents have asked us to do. How do we know that? Because we asked you and you told us in a survey in 2015. Read more.

I recently returned from St. Paul, MN, exhilarated from RESOLVE’s Minnesota Advocacy Day where the family building community rallied together to protect access to gestational carrier surrogacy. More than 60 advocates – patients and professionals alike – traveled to the capitol building in St. Paul to educate their lawmakers about the reality of gestational carrier surrogacy, which has been under threat there in recent years. There is no question we are in, to put it mildly, a unique moment in America’s political history. What we noticed is that things “out there” felt different. Read more.

Worst Piece of Federal Legislation Ever Introduced

DI’ve seen a lot of bad legislation that would negatively impact  people with infertility from building their families introduced in state legislatures across the country. We’ve been fighting these bills – successfully – since the wave of anti-family bills started in 2008. But to say I was shocked when an amendment was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives a few weeks ago is an understatement.     Read more.

Did you hear the news? Surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic believe they are very close to being able to transfer a uterus into a woman who lacks one, allowing her to become pregnant. According to the New York Times, an estimated 50,000 women in the U.S. do not have a uterus, and presumably some of those 50,000 want to have a child.   Read more.
