Please join us for the IAC Center Talking Circle: A chance to connect with others whose lives have been touched by adoption. Our Talking Circle is not a therapy group; instead it is a place for adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents to speak freely, share ideas and learn from one another. We believe the IAC Talking Circle will be a wonderful source of information, interaction and interconnectedness. This group is for any adult member of the adoption constellation. Mark your calendars for the annual California Adoption Conference (CAC). Taking place on Saturday, March 25, 2017, this annual event features talks and more than 20 workshops for adoptive and foster families, adult adoptees and foster alums, birth parents, and adoption professionals. And so does every 1 in 4 women who get pregnant yet, most women going through it feel so alone and lost.  As a fertility coach, this is a complicated subject because it is so subjective. May 4-5, 2017. 9:00AM to 5:00PM both days. Coping With Infertility: Two-Day Professional Training with Helen Adrienne, LCSW

May 31 to June 2, 2017. 4th Annual Jefferson Infertility Counseling Conference.
The 4th Annual Jefferson Infertility Counseling Conference​: When It Takes More Than Two to Make a Baby  addresses challenges in infertility counseling due to advances in assisted reproductive technologies and the associated psychological, ethical and legal issues that accompany those advancements. This 3-day course is designed specifically for mental health professionals, physicians, nurses and affiliated professionals.
The first day is a dual track program and offers fundamentals about family building and reproductive medicine: Track 1 on Wednesday offers skills training with theory; Track 2 on Wednesday offers advanced testing interpretation skill building. Thursday and Friday feature more advanced training drawn from "real-life" cases, ethics training and a novel "psychology lab" (using live actors) that explores the inter-professional challenges of complex clinical cases. June 4, 2017. 1:00PM to 4:00PM. How to Talk to Your Child about Adoption.
This workshop is for families who have or are planning to adopt a child. Some adoption agencies will accept this workshop as credit toward the home study requirements. Certificates will be issued upon request. In this workshop you will learn: How to create a safe family atmosphere in which adoption can be openly discussed; What children think about adoption at different ages and stages of development; What issues are really hard for children to deal with and what issues are actually harder for the parents; Communication tools for talking to your child and answering his or her questions; and How to help your child deal with peer or school issues. Presented by Joni Mantell LCSW.
