NIGHT OF HOPE RECOGNIZES EXCELLENCE IN THE FAMILY BUILDING COMMUNITY WITH A NIGHT FILLED WITH EXCITEMENT, APPRECIATION, AND HOPE

RESOLVE Kicks-Off 35th Anniversary as the Premier Public Education and Advocacy Organization

(McLean, VA, June 3, 2009) Last night, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association honored fourteen recipients with their 2009 Hope Awards at the historic Tavern on the Green in New York City. Emmy award-winning journalist Rita Cosby, currently a special correspondent for CBS’ Inside Edition, hosted the evening’s sold-out ceremony. In Ms. Cosby’s opening remarks, she stated, “With the recent media coverage on assisted reproductive technologies, I was surprised to learn how many people still do not understand the disease of infertility and its impact on the 1 in 8 couples of reproductive age. Given that statistic, our presence here tonight takes on added urgency and importance as RESOLVE strives to reach every one of those couples.”

Those honored last night covered the landscape of those working to fight the disease of infertility. Awards were given for Advocacy, Achievement, Service, Nursing Excellence, and employers who have had an impact on the millions of women and men struggling with the disease of infertility. This night of hope supports RESOLVE’s educational initiatives in helping the 7.3 million people in the U.S. build a family through increased public education, advocacy and support.

During the presentation of the evening’s most prestigious award, the Barbara Eck Menning Founder’s Award, the audience celebrated the work and dedication of the Reproductive Sciences Branch, Center for Population Research, Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute for Health. “This organization is a leader in the infertility field because of their efforts to encourage, enable and support scientific research aimed at alleviating human infertility,” stated Barbara Collura, RESOLVE’s Executive Director.

After the awards ceremony, the Hope Awards’ honorees and guests kicked-off RESOLVE’s 35th Anniversary with a dessert reception. Barbara Collura stated, “To everyone who has supported RESOLVE at some point during our first 35 years thank you for being part of our legacy.” RESOLVE will work throughout the year to remember the organization’s past accomplishments and focus attention on the much needed education and advocacy to fight the disease of infertility.

The evening’s events could not have been possible without the generous support of RESOLVE’s 2009 Night of Hope sponsors of the Hope Awards.
