Born in Rockville Centre, N.Y., and raised in Valley Stream, N.Y., Joanne Libraro has been involved in Reproductive Medicine for the last 15 years. Joanne attended St. Mary's Girls High School in Manhasset and graduated from Molloy College with a BSN in 1985. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Nursing Management.
Joanne has an extensive background in Women's Health including certification in Prepared Childbirth Instruction, GYN Oncology, and Labor and Delivery. Joanne joined the Division of Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in 1995 as a staff nurse. She assumed a Senior Staff position in 1997 and in 2004 became the Director of Patient Care. Joanne participates in all aspects of nursing at the Center for Reproductive Medicine. In addition to coordinating all nursing teams, she also manages the peri-operative suites and assists with the new satellite offices.
Joanne is actively involved in several professional organizations including membership in the RESOLVE National Nurse Advisory Council, American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Fertility Association. In 2005, Joanne served as the Scientific Chair for the Serono Symposium for Nurses in New Orleans and was instrumental in creating the Jean Purdy Visionary Award for Nurses, procuring educational grant funding for recipients for 2005-2006 as well as 2007-2008. Recently, Joanne was re-elected to chair the 2009 International Nursing Conference on Reproductive Health in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was recognized by RESOLVE with the 2010 Joanne J. Amato Excellence in Nursing Award.
As the author of several book chapters and invited papers, Joanne has been invited to lecture on a number of important topics ranging from reducing infertility patient dropout to patient-centered care and the assisted reproductive technologies.
Joanne lives in Valley Stream, N.Y., with her husband and two children.
